This is a guided early art
& literacy program led by staff from the I.D.E.A. Museum. The
60-minute program includes a story time and a hands-on art activity that is
based on the theme of the book: The Pout Pout Fish, by Deborah Diesen. Includes an art-making activity, which is
process-oriented (rather than product-centered) and provides the preschoolers
an opportunity to experiment with some new art materials and techniques. Plus
music& movement in which the kids engage in gross motor activities, singing, and
general wiggly fun.
Learning Goals/impact:
Children develop pre-reading
skills, language and vocabulary development, critical thinking skills, creative
expression, and exposure to basic art concepts.
By exploring a variety of art
materials and techniques, children experiment with pattern, shape and color,
develop gross and fine-motor abilities, and improve problem-solving skills
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A
FIRST COME FIRST SERVED PROGRAM
Sponsored by the Peoria
Unified School District Family Resource Center.
