Betty Webb: Writing the Contemporary Novel - Writer in Residence Workshop

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Heroes Regional Park Library
Yucca Room

Event Details

Novels have changed dramatically over the last fifty years, and so have readers. This workshop describes some of those changes, and demonstrates how even yesterday’s ideas can be updated for today’s tumultuous publishing marketplace.

Betty Webb is the author of the best-selling Lena Jones mystery series (Desert Redemption, Desert Wives, etc.) and the humorous Gunn Zoo mysteries (The Panda of Death, The Otter of Death, etc.). Lost in Paris, Betty's new mystery series, set in 1922 France, will be released early in 2023. Before beginning to write mystery novels, Betty spent 20 years as a journalist, interviewing everyone from U.S. presidents, astronauts who walked on the moon, Nobel Prize-winners, and polygamy runaways.

The library is hosting a Writer in Residence, who will be onsite to write and provide instruction to aspiring authors.  Get expert advice on your writing by booking a one-on-one appointment with the writer or attend a public workshop to learn new skills in craft and publishing.  All experience levels are welcome.  Come meet our Writer in Residence and get on your way to having your own book on our shelves!  Ask your librarian for more information.

This program is supported by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the institute of Museum and Library Services.

All events at the Glendale Public Library are public, and participants may be photographed by the media and or City staff for future print and/or online publication.
